The World's Largest Drum™
Tech Weekend has been moved to online for the 2020-2021 season.
Please refer to the audition packet below for tryout information.
|
First constructed in 1921, the World's Largest Drum™ stands a towering ten feet tall on its carriage. Despite nearing its 100th birthday, the Drum is still used at every home football game and parade, in addition to dozens of other events each year.
It is operated by a crew of six, who not only take care of this University icon, but perform with it as well. Crew Members perform tricks such as sharp turns, flips, jumping off the front, and riding on the top -- and those are only the simple ones. The video to the left comes from the 2019-2020 season and gives a great overview of what the World's Largest Drum™ and its crew are all about. |
The video to the right comes from the Slow Mo Guys' 2017 visit to Purdue University. While they're probably not coming back any time soon, they did film us doing a few of our most popular tricks! (Disclaimer: We do not regularly cover the Drum in confetti and ping pong balls.)
