Before you continue, prepare for a lot of reading and a lot of learning.
Some notes before you move on:
The "All-American" Marching Band
The Purdue Drumline is NOT its own entity - we're a section of the marching band. That means that our auditions adhere to the same guidelines and procedures. We have a round of auditions before band camp due to the mass amount of auditionees, and the limited amount of spots available.
The information on the next page is the process for the Purdue Drumline. Auditions take place the first day of band camp (August 14). If you make it past this first round, you still have to make it through band camp. Band camp will take place the full week before school starts (August 14-19). While this year's full itinerary has not been released, you can look at last year's schedule for a general idea of what to expect. This can be found on the next page.
Note that the only 'reserved' spots on the line are for student leaders; two in each section. Veteran members are not guaranteed a spot. It is not uncommon for returning veterans to not make the line. Out of 34 spots (11 snares, 11 cymbals, 5 tenors, 7 basses), only 8 are reserved. This creates a fair audition, and allows us to have the best members every year.
