"All-American" Marching Band Drumline
The Purdue Drumline is the marching percussion section of the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band (AAMB) and consists of the top marching percussionists in the department. In addition to supporting the Purdue Football team at every home game throughout the fall semester, the drumline also performs at various community events throughout the year.
In recent years, the AAMB has been granted opportunities to travel throughout the state of Indiana, the country, and around the world. Past trips include Ireland, Colombia, China, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York City. |

Auditions for the Purdue Drumline & Boiler Beats take place during Band Camp in August during the week before Fall classes begin. Band Camp serves as the week long audition process for the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band. Placement decisions are made by Friday, and any student who does not march for the season is encouraged to participate in an indoor ensemble, such as concert band, jazz band, or orchestra.
The Purdue “All-American” Marching Band provides many leadership opportunities. Every spring, members of the previous fall’s marching band may audition to be a Student Leader. Each instrumental section has a section leader, rank leaders, and assistant rank leaders in proportion to the size of their section. The Student Leaders meet regularly with the faculty and staff, communicate important information to their sections, lead sectionals and marching basics, facilitate community within their section, perform at special events, and act as ambassadors for the band. You can find more information about our student leaders here.
